A Senior Research Fellowship in Mathematics (either Divisional or Scott Russell 
Johnson) is offered to a candidate within six years of having received the 
Ph.D. who shows strong research promise in one of the areas in which Caltech's 
mathematics faculty is currently active:

     * Algebraic Geometry (MSC 14)/ Number Theory (MSC 11)
     * Analysis (MSC 65)/Dynamics (MSC 37)
     * Combinatorics (MSC 5)
     * Finite and Algebraic Groups (MSC 20)
     * Geometry (MSC 51)/Topology (MSC 54)
     * Logic/Set Theory (MSC 3)
     * Mathematical Physics (MSC 34/35)

       The initial appointment is for three years with an additional 
three-year terminal extension expected. The position includes a $6,000 per 
year research fund. This position is being offered if funds are available.

       There are three terms in the Caltech academic year.  The fellow is 
expected to teach one course in two terms each year, and is expected to be 
in residence even during terms when not teaching.
