Call for Nominations: Editor of the AISBQ

CALL FOR NOMINATIONS ~ EDITOR OF THE AISBQ
==========================================

The editor of the AISBQ is responsible for the regular production of the
Society newsletter. This appears once every quarter. It is 12 pages long
and contains news items and research reports. These primarily focus on
Artificial Intelligence and Cognitive Science research in the UK but also
cover worldwide research and political, industrial and social aspects of
the discipline.

The editor is responsible for commissioning, editing, laying out and
proofreading the publication. The committee is prepared to fund
administrative support for the role if appropriate. The editor will also
liaise with the AISB administrative Office (CASA, University of Sussex),
who distribute the newsletter. This includes negotiating the publication
budget with the AISB committee and ensuring that that budget is adhered
to. Other responsibilities include maintaining a web page for the
publication and bringing publicity opportunities to the attention of the
committee.

The editor of the AISBQ is one of the highest profile roles in the society
and the one which is most obvious to members. It is elected on a three
year basis. All members of the Society have the right to stand as Editor
of the Quarterly. Non-members are also encouraged to stand but must
commit to joining the Society if elected. We would like to encourage you
to consider nominating any society member for the post, irrespective of
whether they are an academic or industrialist, Professor or PhD student,
and irrespective of the area of Artificial Intelligence they work in.
The newsletter should reflect the entire breadth of the membership of the
Society. If you are interested please feel free to contact the existing
editor Colin Johnson, aisbq10@aisb.org.uk, about what is involved.

If you wish to nominate someone as a candidate, please complete the
candidature form below with yourself as Nominator and someone else as
Seconder. Feel free to nominate yourself. Send the form to:

Dr. Louise A. Dennis
AISB Secretary
secretary10@aisb.org.uk

The Nominator and Seconder must be members of the AISB and the Candidate,
if not a member, should indicate willingness to join. NB. It is possible
to hold both the Editorship of AISBQ and a regular committee post.

The deadline for nominations is the 30th April.
