W3 Professprship "Algorithmics", Stuttgart (Germany), Deadline: 9 June 2008

Universitt Stuttgart, Germany, invites applications for a full 
professorship (W3 with executive functions) in "Algorithmics" within the 
Faculty of Informatics, Electrical Engineering, and Information Technology
 
(IEI), The appointee will be head of the department formerly called Formal
 
Concepts of the Institute of Formal Methods in Computer Science (FMI). The
 
school seeks a scholar of outstanding international scientific reputation
 
with emphasis on several areas of the theory of algorithms. Examples are:
 
 Efficient Algorithms  Parallel and Distributed Algorithms  Algori
thmic 
Geometry  Algorithmic Graph Theory  Complex Systems and Internet 
Algorithms  Algorithmic Number Theory and Cryptographic Methods The 
faculty is playing an important role in the Cluster of Excellence 
Simulation Technology and in the Collaborative Research Center 627.
 
Scientific research close to these projects is welcome. The successful 
candidate is expected to contribute a broad range of teaching in 
Theoretical Computer Science in the degree programs of Computer Science 
and in other curricula. The requirements for employment listed in  47 
Baden-Wrttemberg university law apply; in case of first appointment as
 
professor employment can be limited to three years. Applicants should
