"Logic and Mathematics 2008", Urbana-Champaign IL (U.S.A.)

A conference entitled

LOGIC AND MATHEMATICS 2008

will be held at the Mathematics Department, University of Illinois at
Urbana-Champaign, April 19-20, 2008.

The organizers are C. Ward Henson and Slawomir Solecki.

The focus of the meeting will be on descriptive set theory and its
connections (with algebra, topology, measure theory, functional
analysis, topological dynamics, combinatorics, etc) and on model
theory of metric structures and applications of the continuous version
of first order logic.

There will be four invited lectures on Saturday (the 19th) and two on
Sunday; the meeting will end by 12 noon on the 20th.

Ilijas Farah (York University)
Bradd Hart (McMaster University; to be confirmed)
Justin Moore (Cornell University)
Lionel Nguyen Van The (University of Calgary)
Simon Thomas (Rutgers University)

In addition, Alekos Kechris of CalTech will give a Mathematics
Colloquium at 4:00 on Thursday, April 17, 2008, in Room 245, Altgeld
Hall, in the Mathematics Department of the University of Illinois at
Urbana-Champaign.

Financial support for this meeting is provided by grants from the US
National Science Foundation.

Altgeld Hall, where the conference will take place.

TRAVEL: The airport for Champaign and Urbana is Willard Airport

rail system (three trains per day in each direction) and by the
Greyhound bus system.
