LECTURER IN PHILOSOPHY

Academic Grade 2 (Lecturer A): £28,290 to £33,780 per annum
Academic Grade 3 (Lecturer B): £35,858 to £41,545 per annum

The School of Philosophy (rated 5 in RAE 2001) is seeking a full time 
indefinite Lecturer at Grade A or B from 1 September 2008. The areas of 
research specialism are open but it is desirable that your research 
interests should complement or strengthen the School's existing research 
strengths in Philosophy and the Arts, Philosophy and Cognitive Science, 
and Philosophy in the Wittgensteinian tradition (See 
https://www1.uea.ac.uk/cm/home/schools/hum/philosophy/Research). You 
should also have broad teaching strengths, including at least one of the 
following areas: Social and Political Philosophy, Metaphysics, Philosophy
 
of Language, Continental Philosophy, Twentieth Century and Contemporary 
Analytic Philosophy, Early Modern Philosophy. Ability to offer one or more
 
of the following might also be an advantage: Ancient and Medieval 
Philosophy, Elementary Formal Logic, Philosophy of Religion, Feminist 
Philosophy, Philosophy and Film. You will join an energetic team: this 
will be the School's eighth new appointment since 2001.

You will have a strong publication record (relative to your career stage)
 
and a highly promising future research profile, including potential for 
research leadership and for securing external funding for individual or 
group projects. You will be able and willing to deliver lively teaching at
 
undergraduate and postgraduate levels, to supervise graduate students and
 
to undertake an equitable load of administrative tasks.
