PHILOSOPHY OF LOGIC, MATHEMATICS, AND PHYSICS GRADUATE CONFERENCE

CALL FOR PAPERS CLOSING SOON (DEADLINE EXTENDED)

Conference date and location: June 14th and June 15th, 2024. Western Univer
sity, Department of Philosophy.

The graduate students of the philosophy department at Western University (L
ondon, Ontario) are excited to announce our 23rd annual Graduate Student Co
nference, taking place in person on June 14th and June 15th, 2024. The aim 
of this conference is to promote cooperation and critical engagement amongs
t graduate students doing research in the philosophies of physics, mathemat
ics, and logic. We are pleased to announce that Philosopher, Dr. 

Marius Stan (Boston College) will be our keynote speaker.

Call for Papers: Graduate students who have not yet defended their PhD thes
is are invited to submit papers on any topic in philosophy of logic, philos
ophy of mathematics, and philosophy of physics. This year, we will prioriti
ze papers on the history of the philosophies of logic, mathematics, and phy
sics, with a focus on the developments of the 18th, 19th, and 20th centurie
s. We hope to generate discussions about the deeply intertwined nature of t
hese disciplines and to foster an awareness of the historical influence exe
rted by each on the others.

Submission Guidelines:

  *  Submissions are accepted via email to uwolmp@gmail.com.
  *  Maximum 5000 words, including footnotes and appendices (but not refere
nces). If the paper
     includes tables, figures, or equations, an appropriate number of words
 should be subtracted
     from the limit.
  *  Papers should be accompanied by an abstract that is no longer than 300
 words.
  *  Papers are to be prepared for anonymous review (meaning your name shou
ld not appear within
     the paper).

CFP Deadline (extended) : April 5th, 2024

Accepted Papers: Each presenter will be allocated an hour-long time slot; p
resentations should be approximately 40 minutes long, with 20 minutes for a
 Q&A period.

Bursaries: The LMP recognizes the challenges faced by members of underrepre
sented groups pursuing a career in philosophy. We will be awarding 5 travel
 bursaries to graduate speakers at $400 each. Priority for bursaries will b
e given to graduate students who identify as belonging to an underrepresent
ed group, as well as on a need basis. Those requesting a bursary should inc
lude with their submission a separate, short (maximum
1-page) document detailing their need.
