CfA: 4y PhD position in Philosophy and AI, Bergen (Norway), deadline: 29 March 2024

The Department of Philosophy at the University of Bergen in Norway invites applications for a PhD position in philosophy and artificial intelligence commencing from August 1st 2024. The position is for a fixed-term period of four years.

Qualifications and personal qualities

- The applicant must hold a Norwegian master's degree or an equivalent foreign degree in philosophy. It is a prerequisite that the master's degree has been awarded at the time of application.
- The applicant must be able to work independently and in a structured manner and have good collaboration skills.
- The applicant must be proficient in both written and oral English.
- The applicant must propose a project as part of the application. The proposed project must be on a topic that concerns philosophy and artificial intelligence (AI). This should be broadly construed and can for instance include ethical or foundational questions related to the nature or use of artificial intelligence. The project must also fit within one of the research groups at the department. In assessing the applications, emphasis is placed on the quality of the project and the academic qualifications of the applicants.
Strategic considerations, motivation, and the applicant's personal eligibility will also be taken into account.
