CFP: LogIn Project Workshop: Amplifying Underrepresented Voices in Formal Philosophy @ King’s College London, UK

We are accepting submissions of extended abstracts (up to 1000 words) for the upcoming LogIn Project Workshop: Amplifying Underrepresented Voices in Formal Philosophy, which will take place at King’s College London on 26th April 2024. Anonymised abstracts should be sent to loginproject2022@gmail.com<mailto:loginproject2022@gmail.com>. Please also attach to your application a coversheet including your name, affiliation and stating whether you identify as a member of a traditionally underrepresented group.

*** Submission deadline: 1st of February 2024 ***

The workshop aims to bring together researchers who work on formal philosophy broadly construed, who are either members of traditionally underrepresented groups or who work outside of what is perceived as “traditional” topics in logic and formal philosophy. It will be an occasion for dialogue between researchers who identify as members of underrepresented groups in academia and researchers who work on topics generally regarded as non-standard in the academic tradition. The workshop will be an in-person event linked to the LogIn podcast<https://open.spotify.com/show/4fuYcINiEWdO2A60B2arV6?si=281abb92d254445c>, which aims to amplify the voices of diverse researchers in logic and formal philosophy, and collects interviews about logic, formal philosophy and diversity in academia.

Confirmed speakers include:

  *   Gillian Russell (ANU)
  *   Sara Uckelman (Durham)
  *   Frederique Jannsen-Lauret (Manchester)

The workshop will be followed by a panel discussion on how to make formal academic philosophy a more inclusive environment.

We invite submissions from members of traditionally underrepresented groups for three contributed talks. Any abstract related to logic or formal philosophy written by researchers who are either part of traditionally underrepresented groups or working on 'non-traditional' logic and formal philosophy is welcome. We particularly encourage submissions on formal topics from a more diverse and interdisciplinary perspective, including (but not limited to):

  * Formal philosophy outside the Western tradition (from a historical or contemporary perspective)
  * Feminist logic and formal epistemology
  * Feminist philosophy of logic and philosophy of science
  * Formal methods in feminist philosophy

We particularly encourage interdisciplinary submissions. Decisions will be notified by the end of February.
