on "Formal and Cognitive Reasonig"
Submission Deadline: February 28, 2022

We invite authors to submit papers for a Special Issue on "Formal and Cognitive
Reasonig" to be published in the Journal of Applied Logics (IfCoLog Journal of
Logics and Their Applications, College Publications). In September 2021, the
7th Workshop on Formal and Cognitive Reasoning (FCR-2021,
<https://www.fernuni-hagen.de/wbs/fcr2021.html>) took place. In the special
issue, original contributions on the basis of the best contributions presented
at the workshop will be published, and we also welcome contributions from other
authors.

Aims and Scope
--------------
Information for real life AI applications is usually pervaded by uncertainty
and subject to change, and thus demands for non-classical reasoning approaches.
At the same time, psychological findings indicate that human reasoning cannot
be completely described by classical logical systems. Sources of explanations
are incomplete knowledge, incorrect beliefs, or inconsistencies. A wide range
of reasoning mechanism has to be considered, such as analogical or defeasible
reasoning, possibly in combination with machine learning methods. The field of
knowledge representation and reasoning offers a rich palette of methods for
uncertain reasoning both to describe human reasoning and to model AI
approaches.

Submission Guidelines
----------------------
The Journal of Applied Logics is a peer-reviewed journal, and each submitted
paper will be subject to the usual review procedure for the JAL journal which
will be organized by the guest editors of the special issue. Submissions should
be prepared using the IfColog LaTeX style (available at
<https://www.fernuni-hagen.de/wbs/data/IFCoLogClass.zip>) and should be send to
the guest editors by email. The deadline for the submission of contributions is
February 28, 2022.
