Four W3 professorships in philosophy (one in theoretical philosophy), Heidelberg (Germany)

As part of the reorganization of the Philosophy Department of the 
University of Heidelberg, the Department and the Philosophical Faculty 
invite applications for

four professorships (W3) in Philosophy (f/m/d)

The respective professorships have the following areas of specialization:

   *   ancient (or ancient/medieval) philosophy
   *   classical German philosophy
   *   theoretical philosophy
   *   practical philosophy

Each professorship has a junior position attached and participates equally 
in the resources of the department.

Applicants for the historically oriented professorships are expected also 
to pursue systematic-philosophical questions. Applicants for the 
systematically oriented professorships are expected to be open to 
historical questions.

It is expected that future position holders will represent the field of 
philosophy in research and teaching. The tasks include student-needs based 
course offerings in the entire area of specialization covered by the 
position and giving examinations in existing B.A. and M.A. course of 
studies as well as in the Master of Education. The successful candidates 
should have experience in acquiring grant funding and be prepared to 
participate in interdisciplinary research in existing and future networks 
and to contribute to the development of new joint projects. Willingness to 
engage in department administration is also expected.

Prerequisites for application are a university degree, an excellent PhD 
and successful teaching experience. A habilitation or, equivalently, 
tenure or a ?second book? or a positively evaluated junior professorship 
is an additional requirement (in accordance with article 47, paragraph 2 
of the Higher Education Law of the state of Baden-Württemberg).
