W3 Professorship in Artificial Intelligence and Cognitive Science (Osnabrueck)

The Institute of Cognitive Science of the University of Osnabrueck invites
applications for the position of a

Full Professor of Artificial Intelligence and Cognitive Science (salary
level W3)

to be filled at the earliest practicable date. The successful applicant
will represent the field of Artificial Intelligence and Cognitive Science
in teaching and research. Thorough knowledge of the modelling of higher
cognitive functions with the help of methods of Artificial Intelligence is
therefore required.

Candidates should have distinguished themselves by a strong research
record in one of the areas of Artificial Intelligence that are of specific
relevance to Cognitive Science. Applicants should also have good knowledge
in at least one of the other disciplines of Cognitive Silence that are
represented in the Institute, i.e., Computational Linguistics, Cognitive
Psychology, Neurobiopsychology, Neuroinformatics, Theoretical Computer
Science, or Philosophy of Cognition, and should have an interest and
experience in interdisciplinary work. It is expected that the successful
candidate will cooperate with the existing work group of logic- and
algebra-oriented AI.

The position involves teaching at all levels, including introductory
undergraduate teaching, in the international BSc, MSc, and PhD Programmes
of Cognitive Science. Teaching in these study programmes takes place in
English, but knowledge of German is also desirable.

Legal requirements for the position include evidence of an academic
degree, a PhD, very good teaching ability and teaching experience plus
excellent research qualifications, demonstrated by an excellent record of
academic publications as well as Habilitation or previous experience as an
Assistant Professor or Juniorprofessor (25 NHG).
