W3 Professorship in Philosophy, Computer Science, & AI, Bayreuth (Germany), Deadline: 1 Feb 2021

The University of Bayreuth is a research-oriented university with
internationally competitive, interdisciplinary focus areas in research
and teaching. The Faculty of Humanities & Social Sciences at the
University of Bayreuth is currently seeking to appoint a

*Full Professor of Philosophy, Computer Science & Artificial Intelligence*

at pay grade W 3 (minimum gross salary per month: 7,217 euros) to
commence as soon as possible. This is a permanent civil service position.

The successful applicant will have an outstanding research track-record
including top-ranked publications at the intersection of philosophy,
computer science, and artificial intelligence. Relevant areas in
philosophy include but are not limited to ethics, political philosophy,
logic, philosophy of mind, or philosophy of cognitive science. Relevant
areas in computer science include but are not limited to artificial
intelligence, recommender systems, responsible AI, algorithmic fairness,
human-computer interaction, knowledge representation, and human-centred
AI. Applicants will have published on the above-mentioned topics in
leading international journals or conferences. The successful applicant
will be expected to contribute to the strategic focus areas listed in
the University of Bayreuth?s Strategic Structure and Development Plan
(StEP) and their research initiatives. The successful applicant will be
involved in the Philosophy & Economics B.A. and M.A. programmes and in
the Computer Science programmes. The successful applicant will be
expected to contribute to the development of a joint study programme at
the intersection of philosophy and computer science. The ability to
teach in English is required.
