Science at Umeå University (Umeå, Sweden), within the research group on
"Artificial Intelligence for Data Management" led by prof. Diego
Calvanese.

We invite highly motivated applicants interested in carrying out
foundational and/or applied research in the context of flexible and
efficient management of large amounts of richly structured data, by
relying on semantic technologies and (virtual) knowledge graphs. The
research in the "AI for Data Management" group touches and combines the
areas of: - Knowledge Representation (e.g., Description Logics, OWL,
Rule-based Languages) - Knowledge Graphs and Graph Structured Data -
Semantic Web - Reasoning about Actions and Change - Databases - Artificial
Intelligence

The research initiative is part of the Wallenberg AI, Autonomous Systems
and Software Program (WASP), Sweden?s largest individual research program
ever, a major national initiative for strategically motivated basic
research, education and faculty recruitment, addressing research on
artificial intelligence and autonomous systems. See
https://wasp-sweden.org/.

The PhD positions are fully funded for 4 years, and can be extended by one
more year through teaching. Additional funding is available for travel.
PhD students become part of the WASP graduate school, which actively
