Associate Professorship in Logic & Philosophy of Science, Rome (Italy), Deadline: 20 Aug 2020

Call for a tenured position as Associate Professor in Logic and Philosophy 
of Science at the Department of Philosophy Communication and Media Studies 
at the University of Roma Tre, Italy.

The position formally falls within the macro-sector (â??settore 
concorsualeâ??) 11/C2 (logic, history, and philosophy of science), and the 
micro-sector (â??settore scientifico-disciplinareâ??) M-FIL/02 (logic and 
philosophy of science).

Requirements to apply

1 Candidates must possess a habilitation to a position of associate 
professorship, awarded by an Italian committee of experts (ASN) on the 
basis of the candidateâ??s publication records or* hold an associate 
professorship in Italy or hold a position corresponding to an associate 
professor in any other country. In the latter case, evidence for this role 
is formally required (translation in English)*

2)Fluency in Italian; English is prevalently used at the PH.D. level. (for 
competence in Italian can be gauged by the ability of candidates to find 
their way in reading the call below

3)  No previous positions must have been held in the University of Roma 
Tre in the previous three years

Research profile

Candidates are expected to be able to pursue original and innovative 
research program and possess an excellent track record of publications at 
the international level. Candidates should also have experience in 
teaching critical thinking to undergraduate students

The successful candidate will frontally teach 120 hours per year. There is 
the option of teaching either 3 courses 40 hours each or 4 courses 30 
hours each for the Ba and master each year. Hours taught in Pd.H course do 
not amount to more than 10 hours per year

(plus exam weeks); each course is usually assigned to a single block.

Teaching is in Italian while at the Ph,D ia in both Italian and English 
The candidate should be prepared for teaching courses in the following 
domains: Logic and philosophy of science.

In addition, the candidate is expected to hold weekly office hours, to 
supervise BA and MA students and Ph.D student, to participate in thesis 
committees and departmental meetings, with a time budget of up to 350 
hours per year (in-class teaching included).

European Summer Time (UTC+2). According to the Roma Tre rule for this 
position, candidates will be evaluated only on the basis of their titles 
and scientific production and there will no short list or oral interview
