Job description:

We invite applications for three Assistant/Associate/Full Research 
Professor positions. Salary will be internationally competitive for well 
qualified candidates (normal range from 400,000+RMB to 600,000+RMB annual 
gross, depending on qualifications). The initial appointment is for three 
years. Responsibilities include graduate teaching (light), thesis 
supervision, research workshops and conference organization. We are 
especially interested in applicants who engage in interdisciplinary 
research between philosophy and science. The successful applicant must 
have a PhD in a discipline related to at least one of the AOS categories 
by the time of appointment, a solid research record appropriate for his or 
her career, and excellent communication skills.  Senior applicants will be 
considered for center directors (of the five centers in CASIP).

The Institute of Philosophy in Chinese Academy of Sciences (CASIP) was 
established to meet the urgent need in China to develop foundational, 
philosophical, and ethical research on science and technology.  In the 
midst of rapid advances in science and technology, China needs to promote 
and invest in humanities that are relevant and fully international.  As a 
full capacity international institution of research and postgraduate 
education in philosophy, CASIP emphasizes interdisciplinary research 
between philosophy and science. CASIP aims to foster collaborative 
research projects between philosophy and science and promote innovative 
projects of foundational research in basic sciences and on philosophical, 
social, and ethical issues in cutting-edge, interdisciplinary scientific 
research/areas.  CASIP will be initially housed in the University of 
Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS). CASIP will develop into a full-fledged 
institute of philosophy in Chinese Academy of Sciences that covers all 
aspects of research and postgraduate education in the intersection between 
philosophy and science.

CASIP comprises five centers: the Center for Logic and Philosophy of 
Mathematics, the Center for Philosophy of Physical Sciences, the Center 
for Philosophy of Biological Sciences, the Center for Philosophy of 
Intelligence and Cognitive Science, the Center for Science and Values. 
Each center is headed by a leading expert in the area who directs teams of 
international researchers. The teams are in charge of research projects 
and train postdoctoral fellows and postgraduate students.
